RE: microwave problem

Sounds to me like it's a heat problem. There is a cooling fan that is suppose to run when the unit is running . If its froze or stuck then the unit will over heat and thermal sensors will trip and cut it off. When I had my Samsung serviced under the recall the service man that came out didn't have the correct screwdriver bit needed to open the case. You'll probably have to take it to a shop. ;

RE: Norcold "NO FL"

On mine, I could hear but never saw where the spark from the igniter was. The flame sensor is a rod that runs parallel to the flame and then turns into the flame. It appears to be welded to a metal tab at that point. I worked in the natural gas industry for a number of years and flame sensors would occasionally fail.

RE: LP generator hard to start

If I go too long between start ups on my propane generator on the TC it is very hard to start. Since I also turn off the tanks during storage I think the propane bleeds out. The generator is tail end Charlie on the system. I've learned to light the stove and then turn on the heat. The generator is after the heater.

RE: Battery issue

Your refrigerator control board runs on 12v. Most of your detectors are probably hard wired to the 12v system. Did you use the radio in the unit. I killed my batteries three or four times before I learned to completely turn it off by holding down the power button for several seconds till the screen turned dark. One suggestion I had given to me when I was experiencing a similar problem was to use an amp meter, pull each 12v fuse and measure the draw on that circuit. Remember, when wiring 6v batteries in series the amp hour rating isn't cumulative. Two 6v batteries in this use, with about 220 amp hours, will only give you 220 hours of 12v use and you don't want to take the batteries down too far so you only get 60% of that. Cold weather cuts battery ratings by as much as 50% also.

RE: Where is everyone off to this Memorial Day Weekend?

Sitting at home. Class C is in the shop for warranty repairs. Old truck camper is now in the shop with a major de-lamination problem. Wife is upset and unhappy. Talk about an uncomfortable weekend.

RE: (4) 6-volt -vs- (4) 12-volt batteries....Your opinion?

I had two group 27 deep cycle 12v batteries in my 06 Bigfoot C. They wouldn't last through the night for running the heater at 20 degrees plus or minus. Replaced them with 4 6v golf cart batteries. That's going from 224 amp hours to 440 amp hours. No further problems, in fact they'll last two nights before I need to recharge. By the way the tray and space for the batteries was so large no modifications were required other then wiring the batteries.

RE: Norcold Freezer get's cold but fridge takes forever

Hate to say it but that's the way our Norcold acted just before the coils in the back became completely blocked. Had to have the coils replaced. Not cheap.

RE: Why so many blowouts on Travel Trailers

After 7 years and only 20K miles, I lost a tire to blow out on my wife's car. The car was used very little till the past two years. On close inspection the tires with the most exposure to the sun were severely checked. That's the side that blew. All tires were replaced.

RE: FIRE IN OUR DOMETIC REFER COULD HAVE COST US/pictures

In a previous discussion of a refrigerator fire I experienced several improtant points were brought up about an electrical cause for the fire. I've provided a link to the previous thread Click Here

RE: Which Class C's have real bathtubs

We have the Bigfoot 24 Slide (24'8"s). It has a bathtub but, it is small. We have had it for 3 months now and so far we have only used the shower. The shower seems quite spacious. My husband is 6'2"s tall and has plenty of room in the shower. He could not use the tub if he wanted to, which he doesn't anyway. I am 5'5"s and I plan on using it some but, I will not be able to stretch my legs out. I would think it would be perfect to bathe children in. I can measure it for you if you want. We are thrilled that we decided to go with a short, high quality Class C. Good luck on your search. PP

RE: Jayco Seneca vs. Bigfoot

We bought a small Bigfoot about 2 months ago. There are 3 dealers on the East Coast. St. Michael's RV and Marine Center - Md. Indian Valley Camping Center - Pa. East End Campers - New York We have not needed any work done yet, so we have limited experience with them. With that said, if you should need one, we would recommend the one in St. Michael's. We have dealt with them and Indian Valley. We don't know anything about East End. We also loved the Seneca. It was a hard decision. We will not be full timing so, we decided to go with the 24 Slide for easy maneuvering, all weather, and high quality. All weather also means less gas to cool in the summer and to heat in the winter. Whichever one you decide on, I'm sure you will be pleased. PP

RE: LP blowing out on fridge

WA1RI; The DC function on a three way refrigerator is very weak and used to maintain cold in the box. It will pull down the batteries rather quickly if they aren't under continous re-charge.

RE: E450 Gear Change ?

Has anyone done a gear change on their E450 with a V10 from a 4.56 to a 5.13 ratio? With these gas prices now I dont need to drive my 2003 31' Class C at 75 mph. Driving it at 60 or 65 puts it too low in the RPM range in OD to be comfortable. Anyone that has changed to a 5.13 let me know how you like it. Mike 2003 31' Gulfstream 2 Questions; Wouldn't you be burning about the same amount of gas at 65 with a 5.13 as you would the 4.56 at 75? Is there a gear change option in between the two?

RE: Portable generators reviews - and thoughts anyone?

One wrinkle in the formula is appliance compatibility to the generator. I bought a Honda 3000 to power my used TT last August, only to find that my Black and Decker under the cabinet coffemaker wouldn't work. Had to buy another brand coffemaker that would work with it. That Black and Decker Coffee maker is now installed in a new class C I bought and works just fine. The class C has a Onan generator. I don't fully understand what that difference is, something to do with sine wave??????
